you benefit from my experience & Passion
I started Ledger because I know what it feels like to be a business owner who needs help and can't find it.
In 2013, I opened Kitchen Table BBQ & Comfort Food in Denver. A tiny hole in the wall kind of place — just me, a smoker, and a dream about Kansas City-style brisket served with scratch-made sides. By our second year, we'd made Yelp's Top 100 Places to Eat in America (the only Colorado restaurant on the list that year!)
From the outside, it looked like everything was working. From the inside, I was the guy at 6 AM checking temperatures on the smoker and trying to figure out why my food cost was three points too high. I was the owner doing the books at midnight after working a 12-14 hour day. I learned firsthand what it costs — financially, physically, emotionally — to build something from nothing in industries where the margins are thin, regulations and compliance are complex, and the hours are long.
And through all of it, I kept thinking the same thing:
I wish I had someone in my corner who actually understood what I was going through.
Someone who had stood where I was standing. Someone who wanted to do more than just hand me a P&L and move on to the next client. Someone who could look at my numbers and say, "Here's where you're leaving money on the table — and here's how we fix it."
That person didn't show up for me. So I decided to become that person for others.
Before the restaurant, I spent a decade in asset management and corporate accounting — working alongside successful operators and business owners who taught me how real wealth gets built. Not through guesswork. Through systems, clarity, and financial strategy that most small business owners never get access to. I studied how the best-run companies manage cash flow, forecast growth, and make decisions based on real numbers instead of gut feelings.
I know that the gap I had felt as a small business owner wasn't unique to me — it was everywhere. Nearly every small business has owners grinding 6-7 days a week, building something real, and flying blind on the financial side.
That's why Ledger exists: To provide advisory accounting services to small businesses.
We have deep industry knowledge in food and beverage, manufacturing, and construction because those are the industries I've lived in. I know what a 28% food cost means at 2 AM when you're reworking next week's menu. I know what it looks like when a contractor's receivables are stretched 90 days and the next payroll is Friday. I've been there.
Here's what I believe: the difference between a business that survives and a business that thrives usually isn't harder work. The owners I serve are already working harder than anyone I know. The difference is having someone who can show you the path — someone who can translate your day-to-day grind into a financial strategy that actually moves the needle.
If you feel stuck, let me help. I've helped owners see a clear path to radically grow their business, and I've done it through a model that respects what you're building: flat-rate pricing, no surprises, incredible value at a predictable cost. Because the last thing a business owner needs is an accountant whose bill is another source of anxiety.
I've sat where you're sitting. I've felt what you're feeling. And I built Ledger so that the next owner who's standing at the smoker at 6 AM — or walking a job site at dawn, or managing a production line through a second shift — doesn't have to figure out the financial side alone.
Let's talk. I'd love to hear your story!
